Details: Come celebrate Día de Los Muertos with LiTFUSE! We will have live poetry readings and an open mic!

Tamara Saluskin, a Yakama Nation Tribal Member, will open up LiTFUSE Voices of the Dead with an opening prayer to lead into the poetry reading and open mic with featured poets Alexus Mendoza and Jesus Sandoval.

Tamara Saluskin --

"I am an enrolled Yakama Nation Tribal member, raised and educated in Wapato. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree at WSU and later received my MSW at the University of Washington. I have been working with the Yakama Nation for the past 12 years. My ancestral lineage includes 2 of the original signers of the Yakama Nation Treaty of 1855. If there is a single word I would use to define myself it would be "resilient" thanks to all of the prayers made on behalf by my grandmothers and parents. Now, I have the strength and teachings to pray for myself and my children. My hope is that blessings and the spirit of resilience will continue for generations to come."

Alexus Mendoza--

Alexus Mendoza is a queer Latinx poet from the pacific northwest. She is a Professional and Creative Writing major at Central Washington University and is working on publishing her first chapbook. While new to the poetic scene, she blends nature, cultura, and family into the molcajete of her creative works. As the second generation born from immigrant grandparents, she has strong roots in her Mexican heritage while also exploring what it means to be of mixed ethnicity. She is a multicultural seed planted in a garden bed obsessed with labels looking to speak from the place between Mexican-American.

Jesus Sandoval--

Jesus Sandoval was raised in Buena, WA. He is a National Board Certified Teacher and a graduate of Toppenish, Oregon State University, Heritage University, Grand Canyon University, and most proudly, The School of Hard knocks. He has participated in art forms that include: writing, sculpture, photography and film.
