In 2012, TA&H sponsored a research trip to India to study Indian textile traditions. Sylvia Imbrock traveled to India and visited three centers of textile production: Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and the Kutch region. Sylvia brought images, knowledge, and textile examples back to Tieton and shared with the community, leading workshops in the Highland School District, giving community presentations, and displaying the textiles in Textiles Tieton: Gimme Shelter and Camp Mighty Tieton. She is following her 2012 trip up with another; in 2013, Sylvia traveled to Bali and Japan to study research artisan businesses, especially what they produce, the markets they sell to, and the challenges they face. She shared her experiences with the Yakima Valley community through workshops and presentations.
